Hey Paul - I've got one from PWK (will dig out) where probably got him pissed = saying Thiele-Small parameters only applied to reflex and sealed and not hornsHere's a note from Al Hart, Grommes designer - scroll to bottom
Follow Ups:
Al Hart had quite a system.
I was just getting intrested in Audio and a friend of mine took me over to Al's house to see/hear his system.
I think he had 4 12's per side in a huge infinite baffle wall. Electrostaiics for the highs.
Modified Grommes electronics.
His recond and tape collection was like walking into a library. Little alcoves on both sides of his basement listening room.
Amazing!!
probably my monumental ignorance which prompted this replyPWK TS
FredHistory just started passing ole PWK by! By 1985 the late 70's Keele and Small AES papers should have been old news to him, not to mention the Leach work that followed. An early 90's magazine article in Audio (I think) describing the developement of the Klipsch tractrix mid horn by Roy Delgado and crew seemed right up to speed with then current horn developements. When I saw him, someone asked whether one of the Klipsch box speakers on display was sealed or vented. He said "That's a good question!", and stood up with a little difficulty, walked over to the not small box and hefted it up to see! But you could ask him an engineering question and he was ready with an elegant answer.
Greets! And yet we get such good results using T/S with Leach's math!
