Would anybody know what is the volume displaced by Altec 515 for purposes of enclosure volume adjustment?Thank you,
Follow Ups:
I measured a pair of 515Bs with a CLIO system.Delta mass method, this
is what I got...
unit 1 427 L
unit 2 468 L
Hope this helps.

Rich
Dear Rich,I am afraid that we have a failure to communicate. What my question was meant to ask was, how much volume do I have to add to a simulated enclosure volume to account for the volume that will be taken (displaced) when mounting the 515B in.
What is your measurement referring to?
Thank you,
NT
Dear Rich, the data that I have show about 558 l for VAS.
Greets!Interesting! Your measurements are ~100 L on average < the factory, mine, or various other's measurements I've seen posted. Did you get the predicted results in whatever alignment you chose?
That's what I got measuring a couple 515Bs with Delta mass and a CLIO.
Measured the clay with my Ohaus reloading scale, I know it's different from the factory specs but it's what I got.Did'nt build anything it was for a friend.
Dear Rich, could you post the formula you used to calculate VAS from the mass?
Thank you,
I did not calculate it from the mass...the CLIO system does a sweep,
you add a known mass to the cone run the sweep again and it spits out
the T/S parameters. You can also run the second sweep with the driver mounted in a box of known volume and it will give you the T/S numbers
based on that.
Dear Rich,I see, thank you for your reply.

Thank you. Is there something that you do not know GM? ;-)
M,
I believe the volume of an Altec 825 cabinet (the vented portion, not the mid horn section) is right at 10 cu. ft.
Thank you eso. I was, however, inquiring what is the displacement of the _driver_.How is the baby?
Sorry, I did not realize that.Baby's doing great, but dad is having an off day: Car totaled getting on freeway this morning, no injuries other than pride...
