Hello to all! I am new here and have a question- I have an old pair of Karlson Enclosures that were made in the late 1950's....over the years someone has painted them black then added white speckles for whatever reason. I plan to sand down the cabinets, fill in any deep scratches/gouges with wood filler, sand again and then apply band-it real wood veneer. Is this the way I should go?Second, for the 15" driver, I need some suggestions....I have a pair of Altec Santana speakers with that incredible bi-flex 15" woofer...I'm thinking they may do the trick, or is there another way to go? Are the Altec woofers best where they are now?
Any suggestions would be helpful! (I have my sights set on a Dynaco ST-70 tube amp...if I fail to get that, I have a newer Sony ES amplifier from the late 80's/early 90's that I can use.)

Yep, that is all you have to do. Sand it down to a good surface (don't have to go down to pure wood), fill in the gouges (no need to fill in scratches and nicks), then apply your veneer. the best type, for me, is the iron on. You can get a good position before it sticks. If you use contact cement on both surfaces and make a mistake, there is no turning back. Good luck and post before and after pictures for us. Cheers.

.
--never had nor heard biflex - but if mids & highs are sweet and woofer is anything like a 416 for Qts and Fs then might be pretty nice fullrange setup. Some one else will have to answer the woodwork stuff. that finish sounds pretty cool :^)
How do I post pics on this forum?
like this image of text with a bunch of typo - lol
Easiest way to post pix is to upload them to a free image hosting service such as imageshack.us and link it in (or add the html to do so)Be sure you have a low qts (mayeb less than 0.3) driver, otherwise you will end up with gutless bass :) . I'm not sure if the biflex fits that description. Do research on that first.
