The Altec Duplexes, 604s and 605s, are very efficient monitors (98db+) that make very robust bass and will get pretty loud with a SI amp, my 605s certainly do.Although large speakers the 605s work well in small rooms because of the coaxial design, the 604s should work as well.
Follow Ups:
I can recommend Altec Boleros. I'm driving them with a Sonic Impact amp. The sound is so Altec fine.
Hah DB, I'm using Boleros and a SI amp too. To play a digital piano and drumset through no less. Works fine as long as I don't get REAL loud.Use CDs with it too sometimes, works very well for that, better than OK.
Hey Tom,My room is tiny (10x10) and I'm sitting about 5 feet from the Boleros. There is no way I could take them up REAL loud without blowing out my ears first. Hah!
I must say, the Boleros at near-field sound so good. Movies sound incredible too with very accurate vocals and mid-range.
