You might want to head over to the Yahoo Tannoy forum. I think there is quite a bit of discussion about the Autograph in the archives.I think that you do have to modify the crossover when using the Autograph cabinet.
I have a copy of the Autograph plans but will eventually build the suggested 300 liter cabinet for my Golds. I do not have the right corners in my listening room for the Autograph. A big corner horn worked better in the days of mono hifi.

Modify x-over if use Autograph....Why and how ?????
I am at work and cannot do a thorough search but... The crossover is modified because the Autograph's horn loading will increase the efficiency of the midrange and lower bass frequencies. The higher frequencies would be less audible. The modified crossover will help flatten the frequency response. There is a file in the Tannoy group "file" section that shows the crossover schematic for the gold when used with the Autograph. I have also seen threads in their forum that describe how to modify you existing crossover.
I would love to try an Autograph but I will eventually go with the box as suggested by Timbo. My speakers sound great in their existing crappy cabinets when driven with my Bottlehead Paramount 300B amp.

Thanks for the info.
I will head to the Yahoo Tannoy Group to search for it.
I was with the Yahoo Tannoy Group for awhile.....
Peoples there using their Tannoy in different ways. They are using digital amp, powerful transistor amp.(some of them using 1000W per channel) for their Tannoy(HPD and later models), no SET, bi-amping their Tannoy with digital x-overs etc. From what I read in the Yahoo Tannoy Group Site, they are into modern Tannoy DC speakers and using them to listen to Rock music.
My very strong advice to you is to forget having someone buld you a pair of Autographs. It will cost the earth and cartage will be serious as well. They are a VERY large VERY complex folded back-horn cabinet. SAF would be a BIG issue.
In some people's versions only, a shallow front mid-horn wave-guide is added, or maybe that's based around the smaller GRF corner horn encl.
Lastly, I do not think they work all that well with the Golds, the last of the GRF's were sold with Golds, but Q at Fb can be a serious problem with real-life sized rooms! In my direct experience, mind.
I think Reds work much better in these BIG horns!
I would very strongly recommend - very-dead and stiff - 300 litre EBS (OR sealed, right-in-the corner-triangle-top) enclosures to you.
IF you do go EBS the corners may NOT work. Three or more ports - you get a 3 to 6db shelf for an octave above the now very low Fb and room gain hides the shelf anyway, down below 20hz IIRC.
Even on 300B SETS (with big PSU's and BIGGGG opt's) they can be earsplitting loud.
Do address your 'likely seated listening height' in the final design, so you are on axis. And, listen with the drivers axes crossed a metre in front of your goodself.
Quite a few people swear by 'replace with better bits' in the Gold's xovers. There are also all-pass/delay networks - to collimate the tweeter's timing to the mid-bass cone. The stuff was talked about at the same group.
Frankly, I'd get a Marchand 'Tannoy clone' active xover - which I think can now do all of that, and even using tubes - if you can run to the prices.
