Hi chapsI intend building a notch filter for my JBL 2441 tractrix horns. I need to notch out a large peak at 5kHz. My current crossovers are passive line level. I don't have much experience with crossovers - do you think it's better to incorporate the notch filter in the PLLXO or should I do it passively AFTER the power amps?

Hi !!Put it in the already-existing line level stage, no need to give the sorry-assed audio amps even more stuff to drive via a complex crossover. You wanna maintain tight coupling between the triode amp output stage and the driver/voicecoil, whenever possible.
I was thinking along similar lines--I want a passive notch filter to go between stages in a preamp--but I'm not sure how to implement this idea. Any suggestions for schematics, formulas, etc. to help establish component values? I assume I'll need one cap, one reactor, and one resistor. I'm trying to notch out a broad peak at about 2.5k. Any help appreciated.
Good to see other PLLXO users...anyway,,,Paul Joppa has a circuit formula & diagram posted on the net. "Planet 10" has it on his site I think,,
If in doubt - Linkwitz helps:
