Exactly. It's an acoustical system that can be described through a mechanical or electrical 'equivalent circuit.'Harry F. Olson might have been the first to introduce the idea to speaker systems reasoning that many people already have a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and can apply that to acoustics. He wrote a book in 1943 titled Dynamical Analogies covering the subject. Thanks to scanners and the internet, you can download a copy of the book for free from Pete Millett's site.
