Both disparaging and flattering in a single phrase; that is quite a rare talent for the obnoxious, or perhaps this talent is more common or fully developed in the US than other countries?Your point is taken: the good Dr is sooo busy he has not the time, nor current need to update his site. He chooses to market as he does and it seems to be bringing in the customers, at present...
djn's point, however, was that someone may be able to give him a hand.
Thank you for your civil and helpful discourse.
GabbyPS. We do not all have horns to erect. Interesting, if lame, you associated that with audio systems. It is great to be she, mostly.

I had hoped to also address the point. His site, as well as is mine, is an effort to present himself to the public, to become visible. When one is swamped in work, this of course has taken place by one mechanism or another, and it's not only difficult to be enthusiastic to spend time/effort/money on that effort, it may be deemed counter to present necessity. As I mentioned, Dr. Bruce has also had a couple of health issues lately, which have also doubtless contributed to his predicament.I apologise if my attempted humor offended you; I am a smartass, it's a full time job.
Aloha,
a little over-sensitive... Sorry to be snappy. Not offended at all by your comments, just wondering and therefore stating and asking. I pretty-much deciphered your point.Never really understood the whole smart-ass thing though. I do not mean to be rude, just trying to understand. Does a smart-ass do what they do to make themselves feel better in some small way at the expense of knowing they are causing another person pain? I think that in the longer-term the smart-ass would feel worse, therefore creating more need to be a smart-ass in the short term, creating a type of positive feedback loop (in the biochemical, not audio, sense). Or does the smart-ass not see this, or maybe just not care? Or maybe they are simply not consciously aware of what their anti-social learned and skill / behaviour, which they sense that if practised well, provides them a sense of achievement and self-worth?..
Er, ahh, sorry. It is that TOTM (I have PMS type A and D) and am therefore prone to ramble and speak inappropriately.
I don't know who you are but, I like you. The original poster was just trying to be of some help. All Americans aren't this way only the spoiled smartass ones. I can only hope that Mr.Poinz can keep so busy building and selling whatever it is he makes and sells that his website becomes stale. Mr. Edgar has never been anything but kind and informative to the people here on the forum. Despite him being so busy. Plus, he does all this with his health issues. Now, that's a gentlman, unlike some here on the forum!
I thought I had overstepped my mark a little. Poinz is well respected, makes some great products, and does not often come across as a smart-ass. As you say, djn was just trying to help out; he did not deserve to cop attitude from someone, no matter how credentialed the smart-ass is. Success, status, etc. is no reason to treat others poorly - quite the opposite in fact; one could use their super-powers for good...I know not all people from the US are obnoxious - I met a really nice one once. Just kidding, I have met many compassionate (if a little conservative) Americans. All of them were Democrats though... Again, just kidding (I think).
As for Dr Edgar, I have read some of his posts in the past - yes, he is helpful, willing to share, and makes great products that will last a lifetime and provide what seems great long-term value. Seems a great guy. As for his health, I hope it is something manageable and does not affect his quality of life to any great extent.
I have no doubt that different cultures have different tastes in humor as well as general discourse. No doubt many consider Americans rude. Fact is, Americans from different areas vary wildly in these behaviors. There is a night and day difference between someone from the Deep South and someone from Maine.Being a bit of a geek myself I can say Poinz's "smart ass" attempts at humor are more likely a reflection of lack of verbal/social skills than anything mean spirited. But yes, insults are a common form of humor between "working men" and Poinz has spent time in construction.
I know Poinz to be a kind and generous person and I am sure he would be deeply troubled if he felt he had unintentionally insulted someone.
But yes it is strange behavior, and perhaps unique to American males, that the more we respect someone, and the better we know them, the more likely we are to tell them "they suck":).
Thank you for the insights Russ.Despite Australia being a relatively large place, we seem lack the strong regional differences you mention - oh sure, taste in coffee, fashion, food, fashion, entertainment, fashion, and political bent may vary a little - but nothing so major as it sounds in the US. Our differences tend to come from cultural / ethnic groups more than location – I like it!
Did I mention fashion? That Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie have much to answer for – awful pastel t-shirt material ‘dresses’, tights, and slappering thongs – some (all!) girls just are not meant to wear that stuff. Thank goodness girlie dresses have made a come-back; Australian girls now appear more stylish (than they probably are). Oh, regionally, Melbournites are the most stylish, Sydney-siders and Brisbanites care only for labels (lack style – need label), Perth-folk are somewhere in between, and people in the other capitals don’t particularly care. Now those are some IMPORTANT differences.
"But yes it is strange behavior, and perhaps unique to American males, that the more we respect someone, and the better we know them, the more likely we are to tell them "they suck":)."
I think Australian blokes, er males, are similar in this regard. It can be infuriating to understand the opposite sex at times, add in some cultural differences and...
He has done some research about the vast diversity in americans. You might care to look into his work.God help us if the rest of the world thinks Paris Hilton represents anything other than how to act like a rich spoiled slut. I can't bear to comment on president Bush other than to say I feel he is dumb and cares for nothing other than his personal wealth.
Men are very easy to understand. It is just that many women don't think we are telling the truth when we share our feelings.
Interesting topic and I could spend days....years even on it.
"I can't bear to comment on president Bush other than to say I feel he is dumb and cares for nothing other than his personal wealth."I was with him until he spilled his guts on the border. A sell out.
