Hi MRH, I just remembered that I have a Decware Zen amp put away. Would that work? Cheers.
Follow Ups:
1) Bass is really marginal (perhaps partly because the Zen would like a lower impedance load?)2) Output power isn't really adequate for the Cornwalls. I got nasty harshness on female vocals (Sarah McLachlan's "Angel") at very modest volume levels.
The Paramours were much better in both respects; the HF-81 better still.
The 8B was incredible.
Try the Decware, can't hurt right?Or go to Circuit City or Best Buy and get one of those $100 Sony stereo receivers they sell. They probably sound pretty decent, I wouldn't be surprised if they sound pretty good. If you don't like it you have 30 days to take it back, how can you lose?
Sounds pretty good I had to keep telling him to turn the bass down with the boost it sounds like he has a sub.And the dam vidio games go on into the wee hours of the morning boom boom boom glad hes getting married;)
Haha!
has moved in with his new wife and hes only 19, when will they learn? She is a cute little southern GA girl hes a big ugly WI lad.Now I need some grand kids;)

CLick the picture below to see my system
Wisconsin and Georgia? Hey dere y'all. ;-)What will they do when he wants to go walleye fishing and she wants to go for bass?
And in WI you can fish for both bass or walleye. The WI river has a great small mouth bass fishery. So many lakes rivers etc if you like to fish, WI is a good place but like most spots in US, water can have mercury contamination and most large fish are only safe to eat in small amounts. The sad part is none cares that almost all wild fish in US are contaminated with mercury.
FWIW, an avid fisherman friend of mine in MI claims that the high mercury measurements come from putting the whole fish in a blender--a method few use, except those luck Bass-O-Matic owners. He claims that most of the contaminants are in the liver, kidneys, etc., and eating the meat is quite safe. I don't know that for a fact, just passing along what I heard.
Congrats on the wedding!
Best,
At Circuit City. How you gonna beat that? Unlike a vintage Fisher-Scott-Dynaco or whatever it'll work right out of the box. If you don't like it take it back. I got half a mind to run over and get one myself.
hi there,my local stereo store responded to my request for an inexpensive integrated amp for the klipshorns. i know, that probably doesn't make sense but i couldnt afford an expensive amp yet. anyway, i got an nad 320bee which is very quiet (read: no hiss) and i'm pretty happy with it so far. the only thing i didnt like is it didnt have a phono circuit but that was solved by the addition of an nad phono amp which also seems to work pretty well. its been over a year since i made the purchase and i'm still not driven to replace it with a better amp as yet.
and report back to the class on your findings.Hope its not the same one Tim P. refers to in the thread below.
all the best,
mrh
mrh---I just might. Or maybe try the Sony that's a few more bucks but has a remote. As for AK I don't credit much I read there except for a few of the hornies. The place is infested with dumpster divers and Salvation Army Store groupies that think every old piece of junk made by KLH or Kenwood is a treasure. Often old is just----old.
Maybe the tube forum there is good, I dunno, I use tubes but I'm not interested in them, know what I mean?
I bought the cheap Yamaha for $179 at best buy and the cheap $179 Sony for grandma's house. Both sound fine. But if you more critically listen i'd suggest tubes for those klipsch cornwalls.http://www.zillaspeak.com/recycledsystem.asp
When i listen/watch movies thru the Yamaha and TB speakers (i built) i imagine getting a little bit of Krell/Sonus Faber for much less $$$. That's good enough for me.
Just my opinion.
