I am thinking that with either the Jensens or EVs, I don't really need the tubes, I just think the Transylvania tubes look so cool and if I had a reason to use them, that is cool too. Cheers.
Follow Ups:
tubes sound very good and are removed from the reverberant chamber so a lively 15" in K15 and tube on top is pretty gooddiy version wouldn't look bad made from plastic and painted or left natural - IIRC schedule 40 1" pvc will fit down into some cast 1 3/8" to bolt on adaptor - or a metal or wood plate could be made
Which driver would you recommend for the K-bottoms, the Jensen 3 Element coaxial or the EV 12TRXB? They are both 12" drivers. Cheers.
As Freddy said, whichever has the lower Qts (usually the one with the bigger magnet, .. in those vintage co-axials) . This is important in order to get some semblance of bass kick. Which Jensen are we talking about, .. some were good, .. and others not so good .
whichever has lower Qts overall - only used to 15" in K15 - 12trxb might have good tone but not much sock (???) I think Greg B heard one version of EV but not sure which one) the onlye 12 I tried was KN612HCGary runs some sorta 12" Jensen coax in K15 - try to ping him
here's attempt to force a thickwall 5.5" long diy tube down into a standard 1/3/8" metal adaptor - won't quite fit - would need some sanding
That picture is a little erotic in a Freda Kaulow (SP) kind of way. What is Gary's monicar here? CHeers.
