JimI use Alphacores in my horn rig, and I'm very happy with them. You can source them from Parts Express, but when I got mine they were actually cheaper direct from Alphacore, plus you can order custom values for the price of the next higher standard value in their catalog.

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately, don't see 2.5 mh.
JimGive em a call. If they still offer the same deal (custom values for the next highest value price) you should be able to get the 2.50 mH in 12 guage AWG for $45.84 ( the price for a 2.70mH). If not, you can combine in series the 2.20 mH ($41.40) with a 0.30 mH ($16.80). Mine replaced some Sledgehammers, and it's no contest IMHO, but I did do some other changes at the same time, like go from a paralell to a series XO and replace all bits of 16 ga. lamp chord in the original with better wire, so your results may vary of course.
2.5mh is a safe use for steel laminate cores (they recommend below 3000hz)-- i love my sledgehammers on altec 414's crossed at about 1300hz-- never found much truth to the notion that they 'cause more distortion than copper foils'.. plus.. lower dcr is nice too-- less drain on the system! AND they're not extremely expensive from madisound!
