No offense. I am just a big cable skeptic. I've hear people rave about $1600 power cords and then put them in my system on loan. .5% difference at best, but not necessarily better. Just different. I hear a lot of people go nuts over other tweaks and usually it's marginal. Bottom line, I choose not to spend big bucks on cables, and I don't lose sleep over not getting last ounce of performance out of my system.I could try a heavier gauge cable (the one in the system is quite small), but I wouldn't spend BIG bucks. Maybe a DIY cable would do the trick.

I understand your cable skepticism and I most assuredly would not have brought it to your attention if I did not have first hand experience with the SR RR REL SPEC cables with regards to the stock REL cable.Heck, even the SR REL SPEC Phase ll cable is a MAJOR step-up up over the stock REL cable and at half the price of the RR, is a heck of a deal! (I just traded in my Phase ll cables for credit towards the RR cables)
Yes, I agree that cables can be thought of as "snake oil" to some, BUT, one cannot convince another with words no more than a magazine article can portray the sound of a component with mere words.
Listening is the only thing that matters in this hobby we share and if U get the chance, I highly recommend U make an informed decision for yourself :-)Cheers and happy listening,
I can get a speakon connector for about $7, and bulk cable. What's the secret of your cable? I saw some plug in deal... I'm thinking about just buying some nice thick cable and a connector and rolling my own, but the plug in business has me intrigued. What's that all about?Should I do 4 cables (hot + ground) x2 or just 3 cables?
"What's the secret of your cable? "The main "secret" is the active shielding but the quality of materials and the craftmanship can't be discounted either :-)
The mini plug, which can be seen at the link provided, is the connection to the active shielding power supply which is a wall-wart that provides 32VDC.
I also like the XLR flying lead with the spade connectors which provides a much cleaner/sturdier installation than the bare wires on the stock cable.
"Should I do 4 cables (hot + ground) x2 or just 3 cables?"
I would start with trying a double run of the cable which would give U 2x for each of the 3 connections if U have enough slack. U might also try soldering the connections in the Speakon connector.
In addition, I have 2 stock cables/connectors just collecting dust and U R welcome to one of them if U want.Cheers,
