Fostex releases the best drivers to home market 1st t500amk2 is selling very well over seas and all that come into the US are spoken for.I do think madisound might have a extra pair availible this march but if you truly want a pair you need to order and wait for about 6 weeks. They are well worth this wait this is the best hi-frequincy transducer I have ever heard.I might have a used pair availble soon I cant sell as new in a system so I sell off drivers I prototype with but I would sell near new price because of the back ordered state.I also have a new pair on order was told early march I could pickup at madisound. If you cant afford t500amk2 the t90aex is very nice.

Hello Kloss,
your remark re t500 vs t90 caught my attention. I also have Edgarhorn type system with Fane and I have been thinking about t500. But it's painfully expensive and hard to get. Used ones are virtually unavailable. Now, realistically, how much sonic quality do I really compromise by choosing t90 instead of t500? Also, t90's can be found used sometimes, which is another factor. So ... Uh?
The driver was a Fostex t90aex a fostex special edition only 104db so might not match your edgars.T90a is a diferant driver than t90aex and to me its just ok but Iam jaded;) Maybe t925a might be a good choice or t900a.T500amk2 is more than worth its costly price once you hear them. The t90aex has some of the magic of t500amk2.
T90aex is available at less than half of what t500 costs. I never considered any other t90, but only t90aex as a possible compromise to t500. The efficiency might be a problem. Thanks for all your help.
Ed, Kloss is right about the T925a.That is the tweeter I have and I originally purchased them because, of the tweeters Fostex made at that time the sensitivity of the T925a was the best match to my system. Using them in your system would only require a slight pad on the mid range with no additional filtering to the low and high pass of the midbass and tweeter.
While I understand the T500 mkII is superior sounding, the T925a is a HUGE improvement over the fane while costing far less than the T500.
You could listen to mine any time.
Iso,
925 is 108db and costs $263. 900 is 106 db and costs $338. So the price difference is insignificant. For a Edgarhorn type system, what do you recommend?

I can only speak about the T925a, which are the ones I've been using for years and that I like. I haven't heard the other models so I really can't make any informed comments.Mikelakers speaks highly of the 500 mkII and I think he probably has an exceptional ear so his input carries good amount of weight.
I think, based on what I've heard and read that the T925a is a great value in the Fostex tweeter hierarchy and the improvement over the Fanes is a considerable one. Also the output difference between the 925 and the 900 doesn't seem like much, but I'd bet you'd miss that last little bit, especially coming from the 112-115 of the fanes.
Eso,
you never stopped by and never listened to my system, you rascal. Promisses, promisses...

Thanks Kloss,I do have an order in with Madisound and they called to leave a message regarding when these drivers may come in. So far, I think I can wait it out if they really are going to be getting them in. I'm waiting for my horn order from Bruce so no hurry at this point. If they don't show up or some other issue arises, maybe I'll send you an email and see if you still have a pair.
