As some might (or might not) know, I am parting out and selling my Edgarhorns and all the rest of my toys to buy a business in northern Michigan. Anyway, a couple years ago I picked up these speakers from a flee market. The cabs are beautifull and are loaded with Stromgerg Carlson Wide Range Custom 400 coax speakers. Well, after I took my Edgarhorns about, I hooked up these old things and I am still floored at the sound quality. I had to use a sub, but WOW, what a shock. Anyway, happy SuperBowl. Cheers.
Follow Ups:
super 400 are super nice - does yours have the clear 'salt-shaker' tweeter lens? even S-C's Celotex/cardboard with roofing nails cabinets have good tone.
Hey Freddyi, one has that lens and the other one is a gold horn. I can not tell any difference in sound, just dispersment. The horn is a little narrower. They do sound good though. Cheers.
Hey DJN - not seen one with lens - here's about what my sample looks like - how come S-C could make such musical speakers? - what did their top of line coaxial sound like (in K15)?BEST!
Here are the only pics I have. I don't have one of the horn tweeter. From all the S-C buffs I've run into trying to find info on these speakers, the 12 incher was the one to have. The 15 incher sounded flabby.....so I understand never having heard one. I am VERY careful with these speakers as there are no replacement parts available. Cheers.
