There is plenty of $$$ out there. You don't need to bother yourself with someone that wants to play games when there is going to be someone that will be direct in the transaction.Tell the guy "Thanks, but no thanks!"

First off, thanks guys for the input. If the guy had offered a phone number, if he had shared his AA moniker, if he explained who his "mover" is, I would be more comfortable with the deal. But as of yet he hasn't.
I've decided to go another direction with my speakers. I'm wanting to try the Silver Iris' with the Augie woofer. But since I have about a dozen hobbies that require green from time to time I really need to sell the Lowther's first. My wife has been a gem when it comes to my toys, I don't want to jack that up. I've already got "stuff" scattered all over the house and she gets kind of perplexed when I buy something that I already have a 1/2 dozen of. ;)
If you guys were selling these DX-3's what vehicle would you use?
Thanks again Gentlemen.
I ask because a friend has DX-3's. At first he ran them in a BLH (medallion style). Try as he might the sound was never "good enough".Finally he jumped ship and went with the basszilla design. This has the lowthers running on an open baffle with a complex mix of active and passive crossover parts. The Lowthers now sound great running from about 100 to 10khz. A bass bin with dedicated amp does the lows and a passivly crossed over ribbon handles the top end. I wish I had the money to afford it.
I have no idea what you have planned but thought I would share what I have heard. They are a difficult speaker to get right but when right they are rather special.
I went in a different direction and am considering the augie's for open baffle bass. I wish I could find some decent data. Have you seen any graphs?
When I first got them I tried them in a couple different sized Voight pipes and jeeze, they sucked bad! I mean they were painful to listen to.Then I ran across Terry Cain's article on John Mulushi's site concerning what would later be called the BIB design. So I built a huge pair of these and they were an improvement but I still had issues with them. They didn't produce much bass until I shoved them hard into the back corners of my room. I also tried the magnet wire speaker cables and that help a little as well.
Anyway after running for probably 200 hours they still posses the infamous Lowther shout. The only thing that tames that is the Decware Gizmo's. And the Gizmo's do a nice job it's surprising.
All in all though I think the Lowther sound combined with my taste in music at times just isn't the best match for me. That said the DX-3's do somethings that are hard to describe and I've not heard other speakers be able to do. The way they reproduce female vocals is something else.
I've been getting interested in open baffles here of late and may try the Lowther's on a pair if I can't sell them for what their worth. I dunno yet.
I am going to start a thread here in a minuet concerning open baffles and my impressions of my first attempt.
