I contacted Jolida about using their JD-102 (EL84) with the Klipsch Cornwall and he said he thought the combo would be too euphonically smooth. He recommended any of his EL34 based integrateds. That being said, the above mentioned Fisher 500 C seems interesting, though I know absolutely nothing about vintage audio.
Follow Ups:
Haven't heard Jolinda, but El84 amps aren't all the same.If starting over I might try a Decware "Zen" or "Taboo" for all the hoopla.
Never fired up my 500c with the Corwalls yet-- GREAT tuner but a little round with the Newform ribbons they were partnered with. Later utilized as an preamp.
Personally, I go for a "Grado" sound - up front and immediate: translates to simple and direct circuit choices.
Trust me on this. Not a bad sounding amp, but not great with the Cornies. My SE-84B is in its original box, up in the attic.
Appreciate the heads up on the SE-84b, thanks!
