I`m glad to hear that you are working on something similar.I`ll be using the 10nda610 which has better upper response than the 520. It is a valid point anyway, but I think the dispersion characteristics should be ok crossing at around 3k.
I fear running into compression issues on the mid when boosting its lower end with the berhringer (about 8dB @ 200Hz), that is why I went with a larger cone wide range mid, which seems to have very good compression characteristics (look at the spec sheet http://www.eighteensound.it/index.aspx?mainMenu=view_product&pid=241 ).
I`ll look at the bigger horn. BTW, where are you crossing the 18" to the mids=?

The 520/610 choice was a bit of agony for me. Breakup for the 610 begins higher but 520 directivity changes more gradually and rolloff toward the bottom end is not as steep (suggesting less EQ boost). No doubt they are both excellent drivers with just a slight offset in the intended ranges. One of my goals is matching directivity at XO which is why I need more off-axis measurements...unfortunately winter arrived this week :(
will do 2k but I think you will like the XT1086 better. At least I do. I use the ND1090 compression driver and cross around 1K8. If it was me I'd rather have the mid go down lower, like 100 hertz, than have it run up to 3K. The XT1086 at home could go down quite low with a steep order slope but I like it near the 2K point.I am glad to see some discussion on the 18sound drivers. I have a distributor locally who will sell at wholesale to me and it makes the line attractive so I'd like to hear what others are doing. The drivers look like they are made with horn loading in mind. I have seen the line on display and some of the big woofers are impressive looking monsters:) But I want to try open baffle bass and they don't look well suited to that:(
Hey Russ - do 4 XT1086 bolt pattern XT1086 fit 2-bolt like Eminence 1"? - guess they don't throw in a pattern to cut the oval (?)
