The logic behind these type speakers sounds very convincing . The point source,no crossovers to screw up things .Would like to start with cheap drivers sounds good . Anyway I want to build a pair of single driver speakers . Don't know where to start . Any info will be greatly appreciated . Thanks !

I concur that fullrange-driver speakers sound shockingly good, especially in smaller rooms where their limitations -- limited output, lower efficiency, breakup at higher volume levels, reduced scale -- are less exposed. You can find classic european alnico drivers here and there, or get some Tangband, Fostex, etc. stuff. The OB plus subwoofer arrangement can be VERY satisfying. A cheap powered sub from Parts Express and a pair of FRs stuck in some pine boards may be all you decide you really need. (OB without something on the bottom is just toooooo lightweight in my opinion.)
May I suggest Open Baffle for the ease of build & the amazing quality of sonics. I run B200's as of now & they are a wonderfull OB speaker. the Imaging of single driver is VERY addictive. I do augment the bass from time to time activelly 100hz down, & use a ribbon sometimes, but for seriouse listening enjoyment, it is single driver time. The ribbon is really not needed on B200's but fun to play with sometimes.Nothing beats it here on its own from 150hz up..great stuff
Here's a 100Hz open baffle and a 50Hz open baffle (simple approach to FR speakers)
which is which? I assume 50hz for the big one and 100hz for the smaller size?
Yep .....
Below is a link to the post on this forum about my single driver speakers. I have about 60 bucks into them. Good luck....ps, as others have said, go to the fullrangedrive.com forum.
You've doubtless heard/seen my testimony! Several flavors of FR's around here. Cheap is good. If you want to spend a little more, Fostex has some nice ones, too.www.fullrangedriver.com is indeed the place to go.
... and, yeah, OK, so I use a supertweeter. Sometimes. :-)
I added tweets to my folded horns with the 1354 but disconnected it after three or four hours of listening and mine was facing backwards. I think the 1354 has plenty of high end....for me at least. But for the price, it is hard to beat those speakers. Cheers.
Too bad RS doesnt make/sell those drivers anymore. Your speakers seem to be such a cool solution. As i've said before... love those tweets!

You can find a wealth of information on full range designs over at John M's site.Just follow the link below.

As long as you don't need higher volumes it is OK to start with cheapies to learn basics. Wizzer cone car speakers can be quite good.

I used a pair of 7 1/2 inch QUAM's with wizzer cones for my first pair.
They came out fairly decent for very inexpensive full-range speakers (65hz - 16000Hz according to QUAM).
You can find them on e-bay DIRT CHEAP (under $20 a pair is not uncommon for QUAM's, made in Chicago, Il.).
Good luck!!
