albums, discs, surround, etc.
Follow Ups:
Still listening. Trick seems to be the best album, sonically and probably artistically. All albums have high levels of surround. Much more than I know from Dire Straits or Ferry. Bass is tight, extended and clean. Excellent. The highs are a bit bright for my tast, maybe I have to adapt. All albums (hybrid sacd) have a DVD with DD/24/48 and a DTS/96 track. Video material is of nice quality (what i have seen until now). Some say that "burning in" is really only inside your head instead of in your equipment. If there is some truth in that statement, it is partically true for these discs.
The extra disc contains 13 tracks (b-sides/EP's) of the 76-82 area.
The booklet says that Nick Davis used a sonoma station, but somewhere else I have read that all A/D was done in 96/24.
Need time to give a better judgement.
B:Is the box set just the separate albums themselves in a fancy case (+1 extra disc) or are they different (artwork, labels, etc.).
I am getting the entire catalog, but am wondering which way to go...set or individuals. I like to place the separate CDs in the audio rack since they fit (boxes sometimes do not) and retain all original art. Some boxes do away with this.
Any chance of some pictures of the contents?
I am pretty sure that the box contains the discs as they are sold seperately, including all the artwork of the original cd's. Besides that it contains a booklet of CD size (slightly thicker). Inside the booklet is the extra disc with the b-side /EP songs and text about the project. The book is really nice to have and worth buying the set. You are right about the size of the box, does not fit any cd rack. Buy the box and take all out I would say.
As long as they are identical, then yes, best to perhaps buy the box and archive the box somewhere. I believe they will likely follow this up with a similar box concept for the remaining albums as well...I hope. Can any other owners of the box or singles confirm how their appearances actually are? Would make the most sense to have exactly the same packaging from a cost standpoint...
