I just got a Superclock 3 to install in my Marantz 8260.
I had assumed the voltage needed for the SC3 was 5V, as that's specified in a post on the RAM forum.BUT, Audiocom's general instructions call for anything from 9V to 18V. And the SC3 PSU puts out 12V.
A lot of folks have put SC3's successfully in their players, so the voltage should not be a well kept secret. I shouldn't be confused as I now am about this.
Just need confirmation on the proper voltage to use.

Superclock 3 now operational in my Marantz 8260. In my player I had to connect to Pin 71 rather than Pin 72. I also ran a direct signal link to Pins 167/170 bypassing Q119 and R193. Using power from 12v input of Q821 on main board.

Did you swap points as I sugested
In all of my initial efforts I connected to Pin 72. This is the way Ken Tripp connects, and the same instruction you received on the RAM forum. I was also bypassing the Q119 buffer and linking to Pins 167/170. This did not work.
So I connected to Pin 71, with the bypass to Pins 167/170 and it worked. Had I initially gone this way it would have been the 2 hour Saturday session that I initially envisioned, rather than the longish time of frustration that happened.Since many have had success connecting to Pin 72, I have no explanation. Maybe it's all just player specific, though that does seem odd.
The sound seems improved, much as others have reported as the normal improvement with a new clock.
However, other problems have surfaced with the player and I've temporarily lost sacd playback, though rbcd seems fine.

I will have to play a few more discs before making any assessment.
a]unplug and then replug all the conecting wires [ribbons]..... on one ribon if just one bad conect cd is perfect sacd will have slight distortion
b] the conection of clock to crystal point...one point will work perfect the other will not spin up or read... check against the pictures or resolder your join if no go then swap the crystal point of conection and test again....one will work one won't.
Audiocom's dedicated SC3 power supply provides 12V to the SC3, so I assume this is optimal. I found that an unregulated 12V battery is even better.

I'm glad you have answered as you are just the person who can answer my question. Did you use the 8v input leg on the Q801? I may have gotten confused and used the 5v output leg. I've installed the SC3 much the same as you did. I also added a second signal output like Ken did to Pins 167/170. I'm having startup difficulties, i.e. disc won't spin. Ken and I think I may have a power issue.
BTW, I've been in consultation with Ken on my SC3 install.
No spin up can also possably mean the wrong point at the crystal as well. Unfortunatly I can not tell you where I conected as the unit is now all closed up and being used and my circuit diag. is with someone else but I think it was about 10-12 volts near a voltage regulator. If absolutly no luck I will open mine and give an approx point I conected

1) Connect the +Ve (Red twisted wire) of the Clock 2/4 to a DC supply between +9 and +20 volts dc. Most CD players use 7812 and/ or 7815 three pin voltage regulator I/C's for their positive analogue power supplies. Try not to connect the Clock 2/4 to these regulators as you will add clock noise to the analogue stages and impair performance.
The digital supplies in most CD players are fed from a 5 volt regulator - normally a 7805. The input side i.e. pin 1 (with the text on the regulator facing towards you, lead-wires facing down, pin 1 is on the left) is usually several volts higher than 5V and is the ideal place to put the red twisted wire.
No need for you to take anything apart. I was connecting to the output leg of the 5v regulator. The input leg gives 8v, and I found another regulator where I get a good 12v.
The SC3 now turns on.
I still do not get discs to spin and read however.
Ken Tripp is not too far away and may be able to help. I just hope it's something simple.
