"That's exactly what I was thinking. The draw to Lps are its analog roots. If an Lp is digitally sourced you hear all the weaknesses of the format (turntable, tone arm, RIAA equalization, cartridge, stylus) without its singular strength (sourced from an analog mastertape)."Oh man, Robert, I vehemently disagree.
I think digital Lps are relatively wonderful. One doesn't hear the weaknesses of the compact disc: the jitter issues, the high frequency cut-off, the weakness of the player and digital to analog conversion, dirty A/C issues....

No need to *vehemently disagree*, especially since we agree much more than we disagree. I agree (and said as much, I'm pretty sure) that the Telarc digitally sourced LPs sound great. And there is no argument here that those early compact players sounded terrible (they drove me away from buying CDs altogether after a few years).I'm merely saying that given the hundreds of Lps in my collection, both analog sourced and digital sourced, Telarc aside, that the analog sourced sound significantly better (variables aside). Some (not all) of those digital sourced LPs make me cringe just to think about them. Except for the low end I find analog Lps in my collection, for the most part, to sound better.
