When this was released in the USA, the Crest plant was unable to produce the volume required to reach the distribution levels required, so SACDs made in Japan were imported and appeared on the shelves along with the US made version. Some (yours truly) went to the trouble of tracking down the Japanese-made SACD (there were a couple of distinguishing features on the outside of the package) because they wanted to avoid the SACDs made at the Crest plant. This was not for sonic reasons, however.

Follow Ups:
The vinyl totally blows away the SACD... not even close... I really don't know what they were doing when they made the SACD? I have both versions of the sacd.. and neither get played... just the vinyl.
I have an MFSL LP in storage, so I don't need another vinyl version. I also have the MFSL UDI and a nice Harvest "blackface" CP35-3017, which is a better sounding disc.I honestly don't play the album much - I think I listened to the SACD just a couple of times. I definitely burnt out on that one somewhere along the way.

I think the best sounding vinyl is the one from " Toshiba-Emi "-
