Don't kill me please.I have not bought ANY SACDs in last 14 months. Life was a little difficult, timewise!
I have not followed this forum avidly as I used to and so, I am basically out of the loop.
I listen mainly to Jazz/ Blues. Do not like classicals much. Love Tanor Sax.
Could you Gurus please tell me what are the SACDs I should have in collection to enjoy, that have come out on last one and half years ?
Also, please give me some DSD recordings, SACD samplers and some drums, some with real deep bass ? I have almost alll of the earlier samplers though !
Thanks for your time.
Follow Ups:
they issued last year Coleman Hawkins and Gerry Mulligan.
...check out the Wayne Horvitz Gravitas Quartet's "Way Out East". It's hardly the classic jazz combo: A Cello, a trumpet, piano/keyboards, and a bassoon. Filed under jazz but could be contemporary classical--hence, perhaps not your cuppa; no "swing" anywhere in sight--but spectacular sonics and some very interesting sounds. What all those insruments have in common (except perhaps for the piano/keyboards, which can be thought of as a sort of continuo) is TEXTURE--which comes across beautifully on this recording, especially the bassoon.Songlines SA1558-2
... 'cause I just ordered it on your say-so. Of course it helped that Horvitz' "Sweeter than the Day" is arguably my favorite SACD. And the "Solos" SACD he did with his wife, Robin Holcomb, is pretty neat too.
