I, like many, have not had a single read error with ANY type of disc in the three years of heavy use of my Sony.I expect that the bitching about hybrids on this site is the exception rather than the rule.
Follow Ups:
My XA777ES stopped reading hybrids after 4 years of fairly modest use and had to go back to Sony Laredo. Our two NS500s are rarely used for hybrids or single-layer SACDs, but mainly playing DVDs, yet one of them -- I just noticed -- refused to play a hybrid. Are we really in that small a minority? Just wondering.
the iIntegra 8.5, still in daily heavy use three years later. Every other Universal or SACD player failed within one year of havy use, 333, 555, Yamaha DS2500(two weeks before both fronts died) 2 Onkyos. It got me banned from here, do a search. For enjoyent read the jerk who followed me around claming they were reliable and that I was making it all up. Time will and did tell. BE EXTREMELY leary of the poster claiming his Philips 1000 still works fine, he is a viral marketer, with a word worth its weight in gold.
Never failed to read yet-knocking on wood as we speak..............
