About 2 weeks after I got the player as a Christmas gift about 4 years ago, it stopped reading hybrid SACD's at all, no layers would be recognized. Sent it in to Lenbrook and after a short 8 weeks got it back with a list of parts replaced. Then about 4 months after my 2 year warranty expired it started with the dreaded TOC error again. My player won't read any layer on hybrids. When I put a hybrid in it spins very quickly for awhile and stops and reports TOC error in the display. Pre-selecting any layer does nothing to help.
If it's remotly similar to the problem I've had twice now a, trip to the repair centre and replacement of transport parts is the only fix. Best of luck.

but I haven't the second time as it was out of warranty as I mentioned, (I believe the fix would have been 400 if memory serves me). I was so disgusted with the damned thing I didn't want to sink a cent into it. Kind'a that cutting off my nose to spite my face thing I suppose but the thought of spending 400 to sell it for 600, (if I'm lucky), isn't appealing. Not to mention that I think I'll be giving someone else a problem two years down the road.I've looked at Marantz a couple of times since, (SA-11 and 15), and decided against it out of principle based on my experience with the 8260. I'm thinking of getting out of SACD altogether as I'm not comfortable with what I perceive as a large number of transport issues.
"I'm thinking of getting out of SACD altogether as I'm not comfortable with what I perceive as a large number of transport issues."I feel the same way, the harware is the single major issue with SACD, we never had problems like this with good old CD's.
