Follow Ups:
you can't browse sa-cd.net by artist, and the navigation of the site as a whole sucks- nothing is alphabetized.
. . . are you not very computer savy?IMO the SA-CD site is one of the most complete; best designed; most useful; easiest to navigate web sites on the Net.
I am very grateful that it exists. The SACD industry would probably have flopped without it.
suggest you try again....It is ever so easy....type in artist in search...hit enter sit back....stop moaning....otherwise give up....Its the best site for sacd information period....If thats not good enough for you...suggest you start your own website....
oh i agree, it is the best in general, but navigation and search are really two separate issues. i've used the search function may times to find a particular recording, but browsing is another issue altogether. take a look at arkive music for the best example of what i'm talking about.as to your suggestion, i'm working on it, but it will be more broadly based.
sorry but Im not sure what you are complaining about..I tried typing in Archiv and got a list with the 7 discs that DGG Archiv had released.pictures of covers etc etc even reviews...I even clicked on the SA-cd Link to DGG and checked that these were ALL the Archiv released..Most single labels listed alphabetically have the number of releases on the right hand side.(numeric|) and a click on this number lists the releases....Apart from listing items into Do Like and Dont Like Im not sure what more can be done except add the demos/samplers/etc..RSS feeding is incorporated if you are too lazy or impatient to wait. It doesnt give the varying release dates worldwide either but I dont think the labels themselves know this information..however the information of new releases is provided well in advance nowadays and even insiders within the industry participate properly within the forum giving even more advance information.. Adding links to many the worldwide sellers ie Amazon co and com JPC etc plus detailed information re DSD/Analogue/PCM recording takes this site into the Mega quality bracket..
I do hope whatever you can provide equals or betters it...
arkivemusic.com is what i was referring to, as an example of how site navigation should work for classical music. sa-cd.net, while a wonderful resource, is not really designed for the browser, and that's really all my comment was meant to reflect.arkivemusic, while not focused on sa-cd, or even hi-rez, has by far the best classical music navigation on the web- the guys who built it came from the olf music blvd, which then became part of CDNow, and ultimately amazon. they've been in the business of selling music over the internet for probably longer than anyone else.
however, they don't seem to have appplied their existing navigation schema to their SACDs, which i problematic.
Sony Europe's superaudio-cd.com?The site was closed as of mid 2006. Check the link anyway....
Sorry if I wasn't entirely clear, as there seems to have been some confusion caused by my question. I am trying to duplicate, on line, how we used to be able to buy vinyl: go to the record store, find a genre, and then browse by artist. What I want is list of what artists are out on SACD.That would look something like this in an online catalogue:
Artist (number of titles)
Aaron Neville (1)
Aerosmith (3)
Aimee Mann (2)and so forth, with two or three columns per page. The artisst name would be an active link and show only that artist's releases.
So instead of 60+ pages at Music Direct, there are only 2 pages (or whatever the number actually is).
