First off, yes I know what crap Philips SACD players are. I did buy the SACD-1000 and got screwed. The only reason I bought another Philips is because I got it for $1.00 and wanted to play around with some tweaks. Now I am getting a "Boot 4" error on the display. Does anyone know what that means and/or how to clear it out? Thanks.

Have you tried turning it off and unplugging it from the wall? If that doesn't work I'd take a hint from the display and "boot 4" that thing to the curb.Sorry for my ire, but Phillips is one company from which I will never buy a product. I have a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista SACD which uses the same disk drive as the SACD 1000. It is starting to show signs of failure. Once it dies there will be no way for me to get it repaired. Hopefully, Musical Fidelity will offer me some kind of trade-in or something. $6000.00 for an SACD player that can't be fixed is inexcusable.
My Phillips player has taken to reading "no disk" after I put a disk in. Then nothing happens of course. Oh well. It was pretty cheap. I've put my old Sony in the living room and sent the Phillips to the bedroom rig. It seems to work better there.
The responsability for pricing $6000 is on Musical Fidelity business not on Philips. Almost all Philips SACD 1000 with fatal defects were totally refunded by one of the most serious company in the world.
It is my personal experience with two SACD-1000 players, broken and totally refunded until the last cent.
