They are not class D but they do use a switching power supply. I stand by what I said in the column. They are very attractive and nice-sounding amps but please read the power specs carefully.

Kal, thanks. What aspect of the power specs should I be concerned with - speaker matching? Also - TAS gave the Multichannel Component of the Year award to the Arcam FMJ AV9. Are you familiar with this unit? If so, what do you think? My front end is a XA9000ES, by the way.
I am not that big of fan of TAS, but until you started writing Music in the Round, TAS was doing a better job than Stereophile of covering hi-rez.
The specs in big print are at 4ohms, not 8ohms. That's OK except not what one expects. The C3100, for example, is 100w@4ohms but 56ohms@8ohms. Of course, that indicates very decent current capacity but, imho, the model might be advertised as C3056!
Are 4 ohm amplifier ratings coming back in vogue? I thought that was a marketing ploy that went out in the 70s, except for auto gear. I believe I have seen some multi-channel amp manufacturers be less than straight forward about their power ratings.
