I was perusing the recently-revamped NAD site and found a few recent additions to the grey "Classic" line that I had heard nothing about:T585 Universal Player (Does NOT convert DSD to PCM)

http://nadelectronics.com/products/home_theatre_amplifiers/T955-Five-Channel-Power-Amplifier/Being in my mid-30s with a mortgage, stay-at-home wife, and two young kids, I've really come to appreciate NAD's cost/performance ratio. Along with Rotel, however, their lack of intersest in SACD has been annoying. Looks like NAD is finally coming around! (Albeit, a bit late)
Follow Ups:
I don't think it was missed. The T585 was announced in September at CEDIA. See High Fidelity Review story linked below.
- CEDIA 2006: NAD Electronics Introduces M5 Masters Series SACD and CD Disc Player (Open in New Window)
I hadn't heard of this either--it appears to be relatively new, kind of a "dumbed down" version of the M55 universal player? I never liked the styling of the M55 anyway, so this newer universal player is welcome. (I have a NAD T 751 surround sound receiver). At the link below, you might get a little (more?) information than at the web site.
It would be interesting to compare the NAD T585 (at $1199) with the new Denon DVD-3930CI (at $1499). It is reviewed at the audioholics site; here is the link:

The reviewer REALLY likes the Denon! YMMV. It does retail for more, but it probably outperforms the NAD on the video front . . .
Does the Denon 3930CI converts DSD to PCM? I think so, if only because the higher priced Denon 5910CI has separate PCM and DSD decoders, whereas the 3930CI doesn't mention separate decoders. Can someone confirm this? Pardon my ignorance--is the difference audible to most audiophiles?
Also, the Denon has HDMI 1.1; does the NAD have the same? It's a pity neither have HDMI 1.3, but that is just beginning to appear in hardware.
Also note the Denon can "upconvert" standard DVDs all the way to 1080p, not just 1080i as with the NAD. Happy shopping.
The 3930CI only converts to PCM if you use bass management in the player, otherwise no. If you can use Denon link it sends the digital signal to the Denon receiver and the Denon receiver also has an option to not convert DSD to PCM (the higher models do). There is a lot of dispute if it is audible or not, I prefer to listen to pure DSD to be on the safe side. Only the 5910CI has separate PCM and DSD decoder.
I knew the NAD had an HDMI output--I suspect it is 1.1, like the Denon, but was hoping against hope it might be 1.3!Thanks for info on how the Denon handles PCM and DSD.
