In Reply to: who bought depeche mode's violator (cd/dvd) from yourmusic.com - is it an sa-cd? posted by prad on November 10, 2006 at 00:05:31:
the English reissues *are* SACD. I have all of them, and they're all hi-rez, unlike the American Rhino reissues, which are strictly redbook. FWIW, I bought mine from CD Wow, a U.K. retailer.
Follow Ups:
I agree. Get it from cd-wow. The yourmusic one is doubtless the NoAm version, which is NOT an SACD. The ones you see in stores in the USA are, I repeat, NOT SACDs (unless you happen to find an import, which I haven't, and which would have an SACD notation on the back of the box).
hi! i got the 1st series of depeche mode sacds.they come in digipacks wif a plastic covering n i recall the back or front does not have any sticker stating sacd, like the rolling stones reissues.
i have 2 open n look at the cd (not dvd) n finally found that small familiar sacd logo on the cd. very very small logo n it was 1 of those silver logo on a coloured cd.
from the looks of it, i guess i wont be tryin my luck wif yourmusic.
...to see the SACD logo on the back of the digipaks of Violator and MftM! It's there, though. I just checked.
i juz checked it as well. no sacd sticker but yes, it was there.
my mistake.i recall opening all 3 depeche mode digipack sacds 2 check the sacd logo on the disc becos the discs were so cheap i thought they were normal cds n the shop assistant gave me a scowling dirty looks.
anyway the sacds r from mute records whereas yourmusic.com's version is from rhino records. so i guess the consensus is sacds, they r not.
also, i noticed the new 3 depeche mode digipack sacds r going 4 at least 10% more than the 1st 3 sacds. wonder who got em here?
