It would be good news if these finally made it into the real world.
Follow Ups:
Looks like they will be double disc packs, a hybrid SACD and a DD/DTS DVD together. There is a European tour announcement too. I suspect those of us in N. America may have to order them from the UK.Here:
before official announcement. Meanwhile....Go to below German website (featuring new press photos of Genesis) and click on the "Word" document titled "Biographie"....

Nick Davis posted the following at the Genesis forum a couple of hours ago when asked whether there will be a separate CD only version of the reissues....> > > > the sacd release will play on a cd player (in stereo) < < < <
Pretty much confirms that the reissues will be released on SACD (at least in Europe).
To coincide with the Genesis tour, EMI Records will be re-issuing 14 Genesis studio albums in three stages during 2007. All the releases will be SACD/DVD double disc sets featuring newly re-mastered 5.1 surround sound and stereo mixes. The release schedule is as follows:March 2007: A Trick Of The Tail (1976), Wind & Wuthering (1977), …And Then There Were Three…(1978), Duke (1980) Abacab (1981)
June/July 2007: Genesis(1983), Invisible Touch(1986), We Can't Dance (1991), Calling All Stations(1997)
Late 2007/Early 2008: Trespass (1970), Nursery Cryme (1971), Foxtrot (1972 ), Selling England By The Pound (1973), The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway(1974)
The original lineup Genesis albums are slated to be the last releases. Is PG holding things up? Will they come out at all? Hmmm...
Peter Gabriel has said in a webcast on his website that he's open for a Genesis reunion, but most likely after 2007. If you look at the release schedule of the SACD, the PG-era Genesis SACD releases coincide with any possible tour dates that may include PG. Certainly, it may no sense to have PG on the tour while the band is "promoting" its music from the "Phil era".As for Steve Hackett, I think will be on board once PG is onboard.
As for PG holding things up, that's true to a certain extend. When the 5.1 remix was finished for the "Lamb" SACD about 2 years ago, it was PG who wanted to have the mix "tinkered with" more. That delayed the initial release for a little bit. Of course, it was then put on indefinite delay until now.
