I've listened to several discs in multichannel and I think they sound very good. Note, however, that they are not real MCH but processed. Nonetheless they do sound perfectly OK. As for the performances, they are well played and lively and well up to the high standard of other period orchestras, like the Academy of Ancient Music, in this repertoire. I would class it as a bargain, especially since you get good performances of the 'other' Mozart symphonies from his early youth that are fun but not worth a huge investment. Of course anyone who is serious about his or her Mozart will also own traditional performances too, such as the Bruno Walter set of the late symphonies (ex. CBS) and the remarkable performance of number 29 on Supraphon by the Czech Philharmonic under Martin Turnovsky.

I do own several versions of Mozart's late symphonies that I really enjoy, i.e. Bernstein, Marriner, Bolm, etc. I also own the full set of mid to late symphonies by the Academy of Ancient Music. Frankly, although I love the AAM performances, these early original instrument records are plagued by the bright glary sound of the strings so prevalent on early CDs. That is why I was looking for another early instrument version more recently recorded.Do you have an opinion of the Mackarras cycle recorded with the Scottish and the Prague Chamber Orchestra's using modern instruments?
MacKarras is an excellent Moxart conductor - though not necessasraly an interpreter. He's a bit slow at times (at least for my tastes), but he never imposes himself on the music - which isn't something that can be said for a lot of conductors these days. And if you're refering to his work on Telarc, it's pretty well recorded too.

It sounds like English, but I can't understand a word you're saying.
No - I haven't heard it. I'd bet it was excellent though. Mackerras is a fine musician.
