For the first time ever I inadvertently bought an SACD. It was a hybrid disk of Can's Tago-Mago. Spoon records. Their "Can Remastered" series. I didn't know any of that when I bought the disk. Sounds great. Wish this happened more often.
Follow Ups:
That's how Spoon explains the SACD format on the back cover. Which CD is NOT compatible with SACD players? :-)
I had my own little surprise when I was digging through the racks at my going-out-of-business Tower Records and I found there were more Can reissues out than the 8 I already knew about. It seems that everything, from beginning to end, is now out on SACD, that is the proper albums, not the compilation Cannibalism. The first 4 releases are absolute classics and I would also add in the later issued but earlier recorded Delay 1968. After that things get variable. I will say that I passed on all their later albums based on very mediocre reviews. But I have 10 good to great Can releases on SACD now.
This is a great way to reissue music. Rolling Stones, Dylan, Can. For a while it looked like complete back catalogs might be rolling out. Now it doesn't look much like that will happen anymore. It's a shame.
I agree, but maybe its a good thing. It got me finally to go back to tape
reCANNED!

love the can reissues. not talked about very much here. i really wish that SACD would have become more widespread with more releases such as Can and Mission of Burma and more Roxy Music, but i'm glad to have what i do.
What would be the top two or three Can records? I have heard of these guys, but have not had the opportunity to lisen to them.
1. Tago Mago
2. Future DaysDunno about Mission of Burma.
