After flawlessly handling every sacd I've thrown at it, my sony 2000es finally was thrown for a loop when I put in the dredg "el cielo" disc. It couldn't read the multi-channel table of contents and displayed "TOC error." It did read the stereo layer. This is a shame because the multi-channel mix is the best thing about the dredg disc.Anyone else have any read error problems with the 2000es? Any suggestions?

Hola!!My unit has more than 3 month and I haven't any problem at all. This unit is new ( Edta have just corrected the number issue..).
Has you tried your problematic disc ( to blame it...for now) in another machine to see if it has the same TOC problem? It could be the copy or maybe an isolated case. Anyway, keep checking the other disc in your collection and you have 5 years on this unit.
How do you like the machine performance so far?
i just got mine a week ago (xmas gift) and so far it has functioned flawlessly on all that i've thrown at it. [i have about 200 SACDs, but will primarily use this for multichannel since i have this on my home theater set up and a XA-777ES on my 2 channel rig]
Definitely the cause.I have no serious answer, it is just galling to see you post with no helpful responses, and yet my posts cause the Sony apologists to begin their tirade. With luck, they will flame you shortly with nonsense about your just wanting attention. Or its your fault for buying such an expensive player.
? Why would my post "gall" you? Or is there an "r" missing from the "you"? ;)As for the error, I'm not ready to damn Sony just yet -- after all, it's only one layer of one disc (out of about 40 I own) that won't play. I'm just worried it may not be an isolated problem, which is why I'm curious to see if anyone else has had a similar problem with this disc or the sony 2000es. Of course, if I sent it for service repeatedly and kept getting errors, I'd probably feel the same towards Sony as you do.
And NO you don't gall me; I must have forgot the r. Sorry.
Dealer told me if it's not a good solid problem, they probably won't be able to fix it. Right, and I kept using it with increasing annoyance. At 3 years on the five year warranty and increasing problems with hybrid SACDs, I finally sent it back. The hybrids would give a 13 error, or if they played as SACDs would stop playing at any time, or they would only play as CDs. All very intermittent on all hybrid disks. The standard CDs and SACDs were ok. Sony replaced the laser mechanism.
Since getting it back I've only had one misread with a hybrid. I think this is a chronic problem with this player. My conscience would bother me now, if I tried to sell this player. It sounds pretty good, but much is lacking in the reliability.
It has been out for only several months, has it not? So I don't follow your statement "3 years on the five year warranty."Are there two Sony SACD players with the 2000 designation? Or was it out three years ago in Japan or Europe?
Sorry, I think the new player has dual reading mechanisms or something that has improved the disc read on Hybrid SACDs.
