Hi Inmates,I am scouting around to purchase a HDCD processor, Euphonics System Two. I'm taking the long shot that someone on this forum might have one just gathering dust.
Kind regards,
Follow Ups:
.
Hi Duilawyer,I have a couple of things coming out in a few days (if the snow hasn't snarled the production). Hopefully will have a few at CES.
first,
an IsoMike Test disc, Hybrid, containing SACD 4-channel, plus SACD stereo, plus CD redbook. It has an assortment of different demo material, choral, orchestral, band, some small ensemble stuff, solo piano, string quartet, etc. Single microphone to single channel, no mixing, no limiting, no compression. I selected tracks that should put a system through its paces. some really exceptional dynamic range and bandwidth.second
a 2 disc SACD Hybrid 4-channel set of complete performances of string quartet, has Beethoven, Rorem, Stravinsky and Scearce. really amazing playing. same lack of processing as above. The 4-channel is natural acoustic using 4 IsoMike baffles, using no combining, mixing, or delay or such. The 2 channel is simply the front right/left. The redbook is just the front right/left as converted to redbook with the phillips talrius (sp?) program.
These discs differ from previous IsoMike stuff in that we are using better A/D convertors. Better cables (some cable dude whipped us up some special silver cryo contraptions). Hypermatched mirophones. Better pre-amp, and so on. Plus these are 4 channel.
I am interested in using an HDCD encoder for the red-book layer in upcoming releases, but first I have to find one. (sigh)
Will you be at CES?
Kind regards,
Ray
How will you market these discs?Where can I get them?
I am a firm believer in simple miking and no mixing ,and no compression involved.
There are very few discs available so far on SACD that are done that way.The best ones made some fifty years ago by RCA and Mercury still sweep the floor with most of the over-engineered!!! and synthetic modern competition.
Please forward ordering information.
Hi,The demo disc isn't really for sale, but if you send me your mailing address (by private email) I'll send you one at no-charge. Then, if you like it I would ask a favor in return. Send me a check for an amount of your choice payable to Weber State University, to benefit the music program there. I will stand the cost of the disc and shipping. (although it can't ship until we return from CES, about Jan 12th)
The string quartet 2 disc set will be available in the 3rd week of January (if the creek don't rise). I will post order info on this forum when it is available and where/how to order
Kind regards,
Ray

Hi Ray!First, a thousand thanks for the ISO-mike CDīs you send out.
About SACD/SBM/HDCD.
Donīt know what it is worth, but I have a bunch of Opus3 titles of various formats. It turned out for these records that the RB-SBM layer derived from DSD sounds better than the old HDCD pressings. This was played back via the same PMD100 equipped DAC.
The RB-SBM layer even outperformed the DSD layer when the SBM went to the external HDCD DAC and the DSD was played back via a budget SACD player. This says moreabout the hardware than the software of course, but still interesting to me.
Seems like the "new" SBM really works as Sony says.
I am unable to help you with the Euphonics System Two but I am interested your DiAural speakers from the last couple of shows.

Hi Bob,Thanks for the compliment
. The DiAural speakers are design/build prototypes, I'm sorry that there are not production models. There is some thought to making some ultra monitors, but first I have to find the time. I hope to see you at CES if you will be there.
Happy Holidays and kind regards,
