hours needed to hit the extremely sweet sweet spot. Big improvement around 25 hours and again around 140-160.
Warm up is important. I turn mine on Saturday AM for evening listening. You are going to turn cartwheels when you hear this puppy.
Follow Ups:
I’ve had three transport/board assemblies in my SACD-1000, and used to leave it running all the time. This last go-around, a year ago, I removed the metal cover over the laser assembly on the transport itself, and turn the unit off by the remote as soon as my listening session is complete. I’m told the internal metal cover on the transport assembly is for safety reasons, and certainly restricts internal airflow. My belief is that heat exacerbates the chip problem, and I’ve had no failures since removing the shield, and shutting the unit off between listening sessions. YMMV, and I only use the SACD-1000 as the transport to a EMM DAC.
Congrats zettelsm...I will be receiving my APL 1000 soon ^_^. Alex is too busy right now so I would rather post this question in AA.
The player's digital output only passes AC3 for DVD playback. It doesn't pass PCM.
They may still not be able to repair the set reliably here. I think there's one unit still available in Audio Suite, 4th level Adelphi.
Yup - Alex told me 200-hours just for the chips (I had no mods). He's right.
BTW - the chips alone are a substantial improvement and, so far, reliable
