Only slightly off topic, Philips is advertising a defibulator on TeeVee with scary pix of a heart attack victim and his panic struck wife. She saves his ass with the device.
With their reliabilility record, would you put your life in their hands? Can you imagine trying to get tech help while your loved one thrashes around on the floor?
I'd rather chew razor blades than buy another Philips product although, thanks to Alex, my SACD1000 sounds like about 4 million bucks.
Follow Ups:
My Philips HD 1000 just crapped out again! At first I was just getting some excessive flutter from the left ventricle. But when I was using it last night on grandpa, he started rambling incoherently. Something about "searing chest pain" and "his aorta was about to explode", etc. Great. Now I'm going to have to send this thing back to the service center again. And I still haven't received the rebate check they promised me last time for grandma's funeral expenses. It never seems to end. First my Sony RD-1 dialysis machine comes back from the shop with scratches and without the catheters. Now this...

you ignore the fact that the replaced chips are ok. Why did you buy a Philips?
permanently solve the SACD 1000 problems. Temporary fix.Mine now has a sparking noise intermittent; during the playing of the music. Every five minutes or so, only one channel at a time. But the both channels are effected. Back it goes.
a few to several hours every day, it has not malfunctioned or hiccupped once. Someday it will fail, everything does sooner or later, in the meantime I am enjoying Redbook and SACD performance that most can only dream about. My investment totals less than 2K
all together. Worth it? You betcha, nothing else touches it unless you spend 14K for Meiters (SPL) units. Even then it is pretty much a tie.

this one would please you. I have heard it and it is an amazing sounding little player. Alex does good work and who would think that a lowly Pioneer would turn into such an accurate enjoyable nodded player? Not me, that is for sure, but I was very happily surprised.
I have no idea if you can buy these still or not...
