my CDR-795 died after 1-1/2 years. Won't record any longer. No excuse for that!Philips sure ain't on my "short list" any longer

Philips "apology"

....SACD 1000 and more importantly, the HORRIBLE customer support that so many have reported on this site. By the way, I waited on hold 2 hours today when calling the status desk. My average wait is 45min to 2 hours, and they didn't answer after 2 hours. They closed at that time. So, again I ask, why support a company that should you have a problem has a terrible track record for making things right and treating the customer reasonably well. Just wondering. This is not a personal attack just a question.
I have no idea why I bought the 795 but for $150 and 30 day return policy, how could I go wrong. If it lasts a year, I will be happy. Sounds too good to send back after 29 days. Yes, Philips sucks, their QC, their longevity and their customer service. No retailer in my area will sell their products due to customer return nightmares where the retailer had to eat the loss.
in black. And I was not willing to buy another Sony. Also, there was a post here that said the problems do not seem to be endemic to a certain brand, but instead, certain models, of all brands. FWIW.
who made the observation about model vs brand as far as reliability. I think I did mention that my opinion was based on my experience and observation of this board, not to imply any exhaustive study on the subject. Doesn't your 795 SA play DVDs? Mine did.
This is the stereo high end rig. Picture window in the middle of the speakers, so no TV.
My 795 is a CD-recorder, two drawer.
