In Reply to: Need remote info. for Sony SCD-CE775 posted by Coner on November 05, 2002 at 09:19:31:
I picked up an open box 775 from CC a few weeks ago, without a remote. My Sony RM/AV-3000 remote (universal/learning) will perform 90% of the necessary functions, but will not access the menu, SACD/CD, or 2-channel/MC functions which are on the face of the player. Does the remote operate these functions of the player? Thanks for any information!

ALso got the same deal $99 for the player if I bought the 5 year extended warranty for $60 extra. Mine had no remote/manual/box. I have a sony remote that came with my pre-amp but it does not allow me to change from disc to disc. Does the 3000 do this? I have seen these on ebay for pretty good prices, what are your thoughts on this unit.
I bought my remote for $113 from aaxes.com, plus $13 for 2-day shipping (if I remember correctly). I needed a new remote because my RCA learning/universal hard-button remote ran out of memory. I think I actually liked the hard button remote better, but must admit that I can do more with the Sony and it has a huge memory for learning commands. The Sony is a combination of hard-buttons and touch pad. See the link below for a professional review and a user forum. As I mentioned, the universal code for Sony CD players in the RM-AV3000 will operate all functions of the 775 except for accessing the menu, changing between SACD/CD layers, changing between stereo/MC mixes, and power on/off. Off the top of my head, it will play, stop, pause, forward/back, direct access discs by disc number, skip discs forward/back, direct access to track numbers, program track selections, repeat, continuous play,... pretty much everything else.
Of course it could learn the commands that are not built in. That's why I'm trying to figure out if the 775 remote can perform those tasks at all. If so, I'll try to locate that remote and learn the commands to the 3000.

What C.C. does here with floor models, is they scrap the box,
throw remote, and accessories is a sealed plastic bag, and store in
the warehouse. I suspect I got the wrong bag, they should have made
sure the remote worked. Also got no manual, but they are ordering
one thru sony for me, no charge, and will be mailed to me (I hope).
Can't help you until I get proper remote.
