The Dining Rooms, - "El Numero Deux" and "Tres." Les Hommes. Fragile State is a Zero 7 offshoot band with some members of Zero 7 in it. The new Air is really good, plus I still really like the first Air CD.
Prem Joshua, "Dakini Lounge," remixes are good too.....Flunk, "for Sleepyheads only." And, you can't go wrong with Thievery Corporation, - "Mirror Conspiracy," "Sounds from the Thievery Hifi" and "DJ Kicks" are my 3 favs, - the new one is pretty good too.
I don't like "When it Falls" much and sold it. Love Zero 7, but that CD is too "American" for me, - too much rootsy vocals and not enough interesting music, - just my opinion....
Follow Ups:
Kruder and Dorfmeister (the downtempo kings). Ditto Thievery Corporation rec. You may also like Richard Dorfmeister's dj mix album available on the Different drummer label - reggae influenced downtempo Dj mix. Anything by Timewriter if you like deep house. There is too much downtemp stuff to list.
"There is too much downtemp stuff to list."Yes indeed.
That's why I tried to keep the suggestions around the female vocal, downtempo field.A couple to add that are not too far away from Zero 7, - Supreme Beings of Leisure and the first Portishead record,- "Dummy."
Cheers,
PS> (I have that Dorfmeister DJ reggae mix CD, - very good).
:-)
Load up Winamp (free) and try their internet radio feature.
Stations are listed by genre, and there are a ton of downtempo ambient stations to choose from. You'll find a number you like, I'd guess, and can always buy the disc or tracks. I like Groove Salad, Lounge Radio, Secret Sound, Jazz Musique, and Radio Ambient.
Have fun...
