Hey Sordidman
do you have a soft spot for the Cocteau Twins as well ?
Follow Ups:
I guess that I'm a pretty big 4AD, - we solicited that label too hard back in the day: would've loved to been a part of their team...The Cocteaus got a little bit too repetitive and one dimensional, - IMO only. I was all wound up a bands that had a bit more agression...
:-)
Cheers,
The CT used to be a bit more aggressive - like in Treasure or Blue Bell Knoll & then you had the others - like Victorialand.A true story - I bought Victorialand in about 86 or something & it was the chill out disc. I moved to france & made some friends who were into music - Pascal had a copy. We had a listen & I noticed for the first time that you're supposed to play it at 45. I asked Pascal & he had always played the thing at 33 as well !
I still play that record at 33, though I reckon that the right speed for it is somewhere in between....
Sordidman,Do you have the box set from them that was released a whie back?
Worth it alone for the DVD of Towards the Within. Previously that was only available on VHS. I do not believe it is available outside of the box set.
The box set also includes some early demos as well as the only completed song from what was to be the follow up to Spiritchaser.
It is amazing to me, that band.To me, - just my dumb opinion, - those two were tapped deep down into something special. I regard them as being similar to Joy Division, - in that they were nearly outside music altogether. On some level, - people might regard the two bands as being similar anyway.
The fact that those two broke up is so very sad to me....
.
Get one of those $50 Toshiba 3950's or 3960's that everyone raves about on the Digital forum. Believe it or not, prior to watching the DVD I never really knew what Lisa looked like. They have some good interviews with her where she describes her singing style, etc.
