"Showcase in a Suitcase," PRE. Now I have all the LP's. Listening to
"Cry Tuff Dub Encounter, Part 2," Virgin at this very moment.
Regards,
Follow Ups:
Far I is too cool. Although Cry Tuff Chp II has no Far I vocals it is very cool. It was produced by Adrian Sherwood. Most of my favorite Far I was done on On-U Sound by Sherwood. This stuff was released as Singers and Players, African Head Charge and as Far I. "Virgin", "Dreadlock Soilders","Bedward the Flying Preacher","Far Away Chant","Prodigal Son" are some of my favorite tunes. I have these releases with him:Far I + Arabs- "Cry Tuff Dub Encounter Chapter II"
"" -"Dub to Africa"
Far I w/Singers and Players- "Leaps and Bounds"
"" "" - "Withering Heights"
"" "" - "Golden Greats Vol 1"
"" "" "" "" Vol 2"
Far I - "Dubwise"
Far I - "Black Man Land"
Far I - "Voice of Thunder"
African Head Charge- "Great Vintage Vol 1"He is very cool - hope you enjoy
You need to hear "Virgin","Bedward..." and "Far Away Chant"
I have Cry Tuff chapter 1 and it's cool. I love 'The Right Way'. It's gotta be Augustus Pablo on there.
The On-U stuff is earlier, still choice though. My favorites, all on
Virgin or Virgin Front Line, are "Cry Tuff Dub Encounter, pt. 2,"
"Longlife," and "Message from the King" with its fabulous tune with
Culture, 'Commandment of Drugs' ("can't you see that cocaine ain't
no good for the human bein'?).I also like his "Psalms for I" on Carib Gems, his take on some of
the Psalms of David and The Lord's Prayer. And let's not forget his sporadic work with The Suns of Arqa.
I wish he had done more work with Bim Sherman other than sharing
vocals with Singers and Players. And I wish he had worked with The
Dub Syndicate or Lee Perry. He's gone now, though, murdered in a
burglary of his home. Well, as Ray Charles said in his yanked Schlitz
beer commercial with Willie Nelson, "Nobody gets out of here alive.
Sorry." Regards,
A friend of mine brought me the "Heavy Manners" Lp from his recent trip to Jamaica...Prince Far I, voice of thunder!
