with a slightly middle eastern flavor.....pick up Dakini Lounge, - Prem Joshua Remixed!!
So super awesome. Tons of coole stuff. Slightly more uptempo than the usual Lounge faire, - but wonderfully balanced and nice.
If you like Arabesque, Toires, Thievery Corp., Natacha Atlas or K&D. - you will flip over this one!!
is this the real me, or a mere facsimile?
Follow Ups:
You know, I want to like East-West fusion because I like traditional ragas, but all that I've heard sound kind of contrived to me. I really love the K&D Sessions Downtempo stuff. They seem to be able to integrate different styles in a compelling way to me. The sound quality on the K&D Sessions is excellent too. They really know how to play with imaging and soundstage.
I'll bet you would like dj Cheb i Sabah. And Natacha Atlas with
Trans Global Underground. Regards,
Yes, - goodness, - I could never argue with that at all....What about Rachid Taha, Khaled, Natacha Atlas and that enormously popular style?
Have you also heard Thievery Corporation? What do you think of them?
I have 'Made in Medina' by Rachid Taha and like that quite a bit. Very compelling rhythms and wonderful vocal style (just wish it had a translation of the lyrics.) Thievery Corporation 'Mirror Conspiracy' didn't grab me like the K&D stuff does, (The slightly latin rhythmic flavor didn't appeal to me) but maybe I should give that another listen. I'll give your other suggestions a listen too. I like The Orb, Aphex Twin, and ambient stuff a lot, starting off as a Brian Eno fan in the 70's.
I'm an Eno fan from the oldest of olden days..... (Have or heard most all).(Have lots of Aphex Twin too).
:-)
Cheers Voltaire....
Thanks for the pointer.
