The original Quiet Letters was released in 2003 on the Danish Music For Dreams label. The recent US release is comprised of a selection of songs from Quiet Letters and Afterlife. Too bad they omitted Manvantara, a beat driven instrumental that is a prime candidate for a re-mix. Probably my favorite from Quiet Letters (with apologies to Sophie Barker).
Follow Ups:
Was she in Zero 7?What you say angers and frustrates me. Damn US labels!!!! A pox on all of their houses...
I bet the recording quality of the UK releases is a lot better too...
:-)
Cheers,

Sophie Barker of Zero 7 sings on three tracks of the Music For Dreams release of Quiet Letters. One of them, Breathe, is not on the US release.Checking the credits I noticed for the first time that Banzai Republic worked on Quiet Letters. Their release on the Music For Dreams label called Where The Fun Starts Early In The Day is one of my all time favorites. Run, don't walk to pick that one up if you don't have it.
Since I can't get off the Music For Dreams label thing, another to check out is Free-Soil Sounds of Moonage 1996-2000 by Calm, a Japanese group somewhat reminiscent of Caia, but more jazz influenced.
It is indeed quite nice, - not quite as enthused as you about it, - but I do like it a lot... :-)Thanks for the tip on Calm/Free Soil. I love Caia, "The Magic Dragon" is one of my favs...
And, as far as Bliss, - looks like I'm going to have to drop the dough on the European releases....
What do you think of the stuff on the Just Music label? I have the sampler and John Hopkins "Opalescent." Hopkins is on the new Eno record. The sampler is amazing IMO and I want to buy four CDs based on it....

Good stuff on the Just Music sampler. Hope they do well as a label. The Honeyroot, Weatherman, Viragi, and Ivano Bogino tracks are the most personally appealing to me. I have "Opalescent" and "Contact Note" both of which I like.
