Follow Ups:
i was liking "hotel intro" when i first listened to the disc which sounded a little bit like the band "nightmares on wax" with it's mellow synths and bouncy beat, but as soon as track 2 came on, i wasn't liking it. i couldn't get into any of the 1/2 dozen or so tracks that i heard after that. i couldn't picture buying a 2 disc set for one song unless i win the lottery.wow... this is the second recommendation that i lisened to that started with an instrumental that i liked but then was ruined by singing after that. i'm not really into songs for the most part. nearly half of my compilation discs are instrumentals. i tend to like the instrumental b-sides to hip-hop better too.
if you like the "hotel" track, check nighmares on wax "smoker's delight" CD out. you might like it.
thanks for recommending that one song. it's too bad that it was the opposite of the rest of their songs.
will do thanks.it's really a shame that much of the best music in the world never gets played on the radio.
WOW!that makes 3 discs in a row that i listened to that started with a nice instrumental and that totally stopped working for me on the very next track and every other one after that because of vocals. i was liking "the urban theme" by maxwell and thought i'd found a great mellow funk instrumental disc, but i just couldn't get into the vocal style at all. it's kind of a jazzy "sing like your talking" lyric style. oooooh i don't like that at all. sorry thanks for sharing though. hopefully someone curious that reads the thread will discover something new to like. i saw the disc that i chose to sample had 4 1/2 stars... that's not shabby.
i'm beginning to think that my tastes in music are very different from most asylum members.
you're familiar with sade aren't you? she really does soul funk that sounds sexy to my ears.
i hope all the tracks i listed aren't driving the rest of you nuts if you're checking them out.
