In Reply to: Portland, OR : Does anyone remember "in between audio" ? (nt) posted by tmiddle on May 12, 2007 at 10:08:14:
I remember Fred's, Hawthorne, Audio Alternative, Chelsea, Corner, and Brownelle.
Follow Ups:
..a guy named Graham operated a shop in his home. He carried Cary, Musik Bit, and Audiovector. This was about 20 years ago. There was another shop called Vector Electronics in the Sellwood area. Also operated in a residence by a guy called Russ. He was a dealer for Merlin back in the mid to late `80's. Also carried Kinergetics and the AE-1 speakers (can't remember the manafacturer).
I don't think I ever knew about him. I do remember going to a home that carried stereo. It was a old farm house with some property. Kind of a mess as I remember. I went to here the new Celestion speakers.
That wasn't it. in-between audio was in a residence in an upscale neighborhood somewhere southeast of Portland. Forested area. I was just curious what's happenned to some of these shops who got me started in really good audio. Joe Weber and Tony at Corner Audio were very helpful as well. Joe's retired now but he used to call every year or so just to see how things were sounding and say hello.
Another influence was Pat Hickman who I believe was one of the early co-founders of Positive Feedback. He also had a small retail shop in his home as well. Carried Sonic Frontiers, Soundlab, Eminent Technology, Wadia and Audiolab. Had a fantatastic listening room downstairs!
