Many AA inmates have far more. I currently have five audio systems, ranging from the "big" system in the living room down to an ancient system from (I'd guess) the 1960s in my garage, that I rarely use. It cost about $30, and is surprisingly good for a 40 year old garage rig. And my wife is perfectly happy to have a stereo in each quadrant of the house!

friends started telling me I have more inventory than a local dealer. :x
I sold off most of them and now run just two systems. One in the living room, another in the office.I still have a few spares ( preamp/phonostage/cables ) but nothing like once what i was up to.
latest thing was to hook up McIntosh MA 5100 driven by Dyna FM 3 and 5 disc Sony CD changer through AR 4x's in the storage/exercise/study bedroom. They all have minor to moderate issues, but still play music. I was thinking of buying other vintage speakers such as Dynaco A 25 or KLH or ADS or something else.A repaired GAS Son of Amp waits for a good listening period, and the PS Audio IV H sits while I enjoy some toobs (PAS 2).
I have "systems" stacked up in my garage and I'm moving some of them out of the way so I can have enough work bench space to build some 6KG6 monoblocks. Don't know if there is a cure or not. I'm not actively looking for one.
I have two "home" systems and a "not so travel" system. (Actually more like the "future" system.) Very happy with all three.... I'll need to make room when my work returns to AZ......
Let's see: there is the HT AND music systems in the basement, the bedroom system, the small system in the kitchen and the system hooked up to the PC. Oh yeah, you can add in my wife's old compact tapr/radio/turntable system in the dining room corner.
That's six.
I have three. Main system in dedicated room, bedroom, and workout room. The latter was put together from stuff I had rotated out of the main system. I've been thinkin about putting something in my office, but I know I'll go kinda nuts, so I've tabled that for now. I think I qualify as a nut case.
I guess if I count:1 main 2 channel system in a dedicated basement room
1 home theater system in the livingroom/den
1 secondary 2 channel system in the back room, with additional speakers attached for outside listening on the deckNow the kids have junk systems in their room (1 box jobies), so I won't count those.
Nothing in the master bedroom except a TV and CD/clock radio, so that doesn't count either. So no, I don't think you have too much. Musiclistener, on the other hand ...
but if you are I'm pretty jealous!
I meant if you ARE married and can still fill up the house with audi gear, then I'm jealous! NOT FOR ANY OTHER REASON....!!! (ahem) Or as Jerry Seinfeld once said..."Not that there's anything wrong with that.."

I'd rather keep all of my money and have 1/2 of my stereo wish list than vice-versa. But good luck and congratulations(?)....
The bittersweet part of all this is that the "other one" gets the HT system and a majority of movies, while I get the Analog Rig as it has been nicknamed, and all the CDs and albums (save about a half dozen in total). Not band, considering the amount of records and CDs I have...She can keep the bigscreen and all that crap...

Fin1bxn:I don't think there is anything wrong with having a few systems in your "collection". What I DON'T understand is guys who want ONE system to be all things to all music and all men. Sure, with 100K _ systems, they get pretty close - but for the rest of us there is this concept known as specialization. SET amps are wonderful and can be very pleasing with a vast variety of genres. But for some more intensive passages or those with a large low frequency component, some find them light in the power department (except perhaps those running ulta-high efficiency speakers in the 100db + range). So it makes sense to have a system than can "rock out" in addition to the SET setup. Then there are the different types of speakers. Conventional, bi-polar, di-polar, ribbon, planar... each have their own list of strengths and shortcomings.
Some guys are forever tweaking (like me) and really only have one system going at once. We're contantly building and rebuilding systems probably as much in the name of experimentation as for the love of music! Then, there are others who like to set up a system and leave it - for these guys having more than one room set up is a very logic choice.
Some guys love music. Some guys love stereos. Some guys love both.
You probably just love both!
Fortunately my wife enjoys a lot the DIY process, and is OK to have a different sound every week. She also keeps it a proirity to organize every room around the stereos..... to get the best acoustics. :) The furniture is second on the list of her priorities next to sound.

Freedom and flexibility = lots of different sounds and looks.
Most importantly, the freedom. Freedom meaning the space and room free of those "others", be them spouse, children, dogs, etc. So, there I remain as one of those "guys" trying to make one system be all things all the time. I've probably spent more money on that one and the tweaks than if I would have if I had taken a multi-system approach. But, alas, I'm still lacking the freedom.Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.
Nothing ain't worth nothing, but its free.
not all systems can be everything, they all have the positives and negatives. once i get a system tweeked. i just sit back and enjoy it.for the guys in the other post's, i'm divorced 10 years and havent comprimised since and dont have too any more.
why are divorces so expensive - because their worth it....

I know the feeling!I have about four or five systems worth of gear in my house, with only one main system and one HT system going at the moment- and I'm moving out in just over a week!
Translation- I gotta find storage or sale for a boatload of things from 80's vintage crappolla turntables to all sorts of parts and things (advent woofers in need of refoaming, etc...).
The soon to be ex-wife gets the HT system. At least I get the big rig for my apartment...
