Anyone added a second set of subwoofers to their Avantgarde Duos? How would you charactarize the change in sound? How do you connect them to your existing pair? By adding 4 more woofers does the impedance seen by the amp drop? Is it now easier or more difficult to integrate the bass with the horns? What is the best way to arrange them: next to eachother horizontally or stacked vertically(detached from the frame)?
Follow Ups:
There are some recent papers by Toole and Geddes on the subject. More subs, spread around the room helps the in-room. low frequency responseThe avantgarde sub amp inputs are high impedance, so they won't load your amplifier.
Hi Jayarr,I added a pair of Avantgarde 230 subwoofers in conjunction with my Duos a couple of years ago. At the 2004 CES, Jim Smith had what he called a Super Duo set-up where he used four extra Avantgarde 225 subs with his Duos. E-mail me at Brawny@ureach.com and we can discuss. I can send you pictures as well.
Better try a pair JL Audio f113, yes they can be integrated, and yes the lower octaves are very important.
Are you using the JL Audio subs in addition to the AG subs, or in place of?
