If you had around $2200.00 to spend would you spend it on room treatment or new compondents?
Thanks in advance..

Buy yourself some records with that money, sit back and enjoy music.
room, the room (untreated) is crap and what you put in there is largely irrelevant - it's like trying to pick up a turd by the clean end..That said, you also can't split the room/speaker/cable/amp interface, they're too interdependent. Start with what will make the largest difference (the room) and go from there...
IMO, getting the room right is as important as any other component. Each room is different, so the challenge will be to figure out what type and how much Absorption and / or Diffusion to use. Try walking around your room and clapping your hands near your speakers, hot seat, corners, etc. If you hear a ringing sound after the initial clap, (similar to the echo you hear in an empty, unfurnished room) you got slap-echo and need absorption. Conversely if the sound is kinda dead and muffled you’re over damped and should try diffusion. Room treatments are not very expensive. If you’re into DIY, search for Jon Rischs’ bass traps and wall panels over in the tweaks section.
Believe what your ears say - not hearsay.
In my situation I WILL be spending quite some time/money on acoustics now that my room is done. But are you speaking hypothetically or specific to each respondant?
If hypothetical; is the room already somewhat treated? How big is the room? What type of furniture, flooring etc? What is the system right now? If one was using a rack system in a 24 x 30' room I'd go with components. It depends.
room Treatment has the potential of improving your audio listening experience more than anything else. Speakers are second and all other equipment is a distant third. You'll never realize the potential of your equipment without a good acoustic listening environment. But if you're the type listener than enjoys music for itself - spend all your money on software.

The room really dosen't sound that bad.. I am just curious if the treatment is worth the expense. I am running Salk Veracity HT 3 speakers with a Modwright swl 9.0 SE preamp and Channel Island D-200 power amps. And a Exemplar Denon 3910 DVD player.
How do you know if the room is good or bad? For myself, the only way I could tell for sure was to do some acoustic treament and listen for the differences. And there were plenty in my situation. It is marvelous what room tunes, Risch quick and dirty bass traps and a tube trap or two can do. Much more than an equalizer. And then your room is ready for whatever new equipment you may get in the future
What do you guy's think about the eight nerve stuff.
It takes a lot of nerve for you to ask that question. Actually, I have no idea what you are talking about.

No, I would not spend the money on adult diapers.....It depends on the current state of your room acoustics. If you room is not to a certain point, you don't really know what your components actually sound like, do you? You need to get the room in reasonable shape, then you have a better chance of finding components that you like the sound of in any reasonable room.
Of course, if you're planning to live where you are now long-term, it is ok to buy components that compensate for the room's problems.
Room Treatment will give you a better return than any equipment purchase.
