I am planing to go back to LP-s. Do anybody have experients with this configuration: Michell Gyro SE + SME M2-9 + Van den Hul DDT-II and Naim Stageline phono amp. Will it be good match?
Tanks advance!
Follow Ups:
Naim may have changed the circuit since I played with a Stageline four years ago, but back then the version for LO MCs was very sensitive to RFI. At the time I lived in a town in the Boston suburbs that was home to 3 or 4 TV and FM towers; it was RFI hell. The Stageline was completely unhinged by the interference and emitted nothing but a buzzing sound (Naim US later confirmed that it worked fine at their office). You might ask your dealer about their return policy in case the Stageline has RFI problems in your location.
Or even Michell's own Techno Arm.The cartridge is all down your own taste. Choosing a cartridge is like choosing a tie. Best not to let anyone do it for you without knowing what you like.
I don't know about the Naim, but the others should work together assuming the M2 lives up to SME's reputation. I would personally go with the 309 if I had a choice. Will the Gyro be using the inverted bearing? FYI, many of us think this table sounds the best when using the original metal platter.
The Gyro SE/309 combo with metal platter comes well within shouting distance of some of the very best.
The dealer told me that Gyro SE will be with Orbe 5,5 cm thick platter.
comming back to vinyl now is like returning to a party nearly out of beer.
Ok. April fools, as they sell even less than vinyl.
And you have to be a fool to believe it's a little late to be getting into vinyl.
I got back into vinyl a couple of years ago. I know have a VPI Scout, Ortofon Rondo Bronze and in the last few years I have managed to obtain over 700 LPs. There are many sources for new/used vinyl. No need to think otherwise.
and a sweet babe is sitting alone on the couch.
I think it's like returning to a party with a huge, well stocked wine cellar.
listening to a disk I hadn't played in 30 years is one spine tingling moment!
